Current technology to monitor arterial pressure can be as simple as the blood pressure cuff

The upper number, or systolic pressure gives you the highest pressure, and the diastolic or lower number is the low point in the cycle of the heart pumping blood. But for more precise and continuous measurements we place a catheter or line into the artery and use sensors to detect the arterial pressure over time. But some new technology may see a less invasive form of monitoring possible using a wrist based monitor.

I caught up with James Chen from ViviScout at Vive as he showed off their non-invasive arterial line device

While still early in the development cycle they have a working prototype. This will be an interesting company to watch offering another wearable technology that provides continuous data on our health
