Hard to imagine but we are 10 months into this crisis, and it is 7 months since the WHO declared this to be a Pandemic. It is clear there is fatigue in all areas of our society and world. There is fatigue in the impact it is having economically and the new daily challenges we experience.
Take a look at the dashboard on the effective reproduction number for COVID-19 (The R0, R naught, or Rt number) that describes the current reproduction or spread of SARS-CoV-2. What is evident is the rollercoaster nature of the disease across many of the states. The disease spreads and the R0 rises and everyone responds by following the guidelines to reduce the spread and the number declines. Then as the number continues to decline there is an opening up of the services, business and the virus starts to spread.
Keeping focus is hard especially with the devastation we have seen to individuals, businesses, lives and our way of living. It is human nature to seek an opportunity o relax and experience some of the simple pleasures as restrictions are lifted but doing so early is allowing the virus to return and spread to increase again
Your first incremental step to coping – stay focused and committed.
- Keep following the guidelines to reduce the spread
- Keep wearing your mask when out and in other people’s company
- Stay physically distanced
- Keep washing your hands and practicing good hygiene
As other countries have demonstrated

we can purge this virus from our communities and return to some semblance of our previous life but it takes long term commitment
The challenge of the ever-changing landscape we live in is planning. This is especially true in the COVID19 era as we continue to chase information that is moving in real-time and make judgments and decisions based on the best available data, today
From a business, college, and school planning standpoint how do you approach this and be successful? This requires some agility in your approach and the ability to set small, incremental short-term targets that allow you to narrow your focus and be successful. Alongside this narrow focus is the need to prepare for a wide range of possible outcomes or changes which are best addressed by broadening your outlook and scenario planning that attempts to think through potential challenges as you open your business, school to college
Surviving and Thriving Incrementally in the new Post COVID19 world demands to rethink our business and especially in the light of testing strategies for COVID19 and the challenge of knowing what you need to do to keep your business, employees and customers safe.
